| Who can apply | A master's degree or equivalent with at least 55% marks (50% for OBC non-creamy layer, SC, ST, PwD and third gender), or a four-year bachelor's degree with 75% marks for the fellowship route only. Final-year master's students may apply provisionally. |
| Age / class | Junior Research Fellowship: not more than 30 years, with relaxations for reserved categories, women, research experience and armed forces service. There is no upper age limit for Assistant Professor eligibility. |
| Stages | One computer-based objective test in the chosen subject (Chemical, Earth/Atmospheric/Ocean/Planetary, Life, Mathematical or Physical Sciences), with three parts A, B and C. |
